Tasting notes
Superripe aromas of peach, apricot and sweet oak; this seems to have retained more fruit than the Virondot. Superconcentrated, rich and sweet; the alcohol is apparent but there's plenty of buffering fruit here. Shows a bit more flavor definition than the Virondot. Finishes sweetly oaky and long. This is 13.7% alcohol, according to Mollard; only the Morgeot reached 14% in 2003.

Pears and apples make up the aromatic profile of the light to medium-bodied 2003 Batard-Montrachet (white). A pretty, spicy, satin-textured effort, it offers toasty oak-laced white fruit flavors before tapering off in the finish. Projected maturity: now-2010. (13. 7% alcohol) Nut oil, truffle and nutty, smoky oak on the superripe nose. Fat, dense and rich, with a silky texture and impressive volume. Not at all high in acidity but the acids are well-integrated, and the wine comes off as nicely balanced. Very full in the mouth.
