Tasting notes
(the vines here are at least 50 years old, notes Mollard) Dee p, extremely ripe, carnal nose hints at peach, menthol, honey, nut meal and truffle. Dense, thick and chewy, conveying an impression of solidity. As large-scaled as this is, there's also excellent harmonious acidity to give shape to its fat fruit. Offers a superb combination of creaminess and balance. Very long and ripe on the aftertaste.

The boldly rich 2002 Batard-Montrachet bursts from the glass with honeyed minerals and spices. Medium-bodied, powerful, and broad, its buttery personality is loaded with toasty minerals and popcorn. This fleshy, intense wine also possesses a pulpy pear-laden, lengthy finish. Drink it between 2006 and 2012. Importer: Robert Kacher Selections, Washington, DC; tel. (202) 832-9083
