More brooding on the nose than the Chevalier, hinting at ripe peach and apricot. Dense, solid and very closed; less perfumed and complex today than the Chevalier, showing honey and petrol nuances to its ripe stone fruit flavors. Drier than the Chevalier and less flavorful today, this very young wine calls for six to eight years of patience.

Bright yellow. Slight flinty reduction to the aromas of pineapple and minerals. Rich, chewy and serious, with a whiff of menthol; more tannic and less smooth than the Chevalier, and in need of aeration. Comes across as heavier now by comparison, with the structure of a red wine.

The nose is so reduced that it defies evaluation. As with several of the other wines in the range there is excellent verve and freshness to the almost painfully intense medium weight plus flavors that possess an abundance of palate coating dry extract. The explosively long and impeccably well-balanced finish displays a bit of wood and as my description makes clear, this is in an awkward stage at present but the stellar quality of the underlying material, not to mention this wine's incredible track record, make for a compelling argument that it will come together in time.
