Tasting notes
Very pale with a mineral-laden nose. Underneath it is big, bold and fat. Amorphous at the moment but all the ingredients are there. Very slightly hot and alcoholic with some astringency still, but the balance of elements is ultimately convincing for the long term. Another very impressive bottling from this increasingly important producer. (JR)

Cask sample Full, open and floral. Big and broad. Very, very chewy. Lots to get your teeth into. Relatively massive. Not cheap! Big rather than fine. (JR)
The candied apple and spice-scented 2000 Batard-Montrachet is immensely aromatic. Medium to full-bodied, rich, and ample, this velvety-textured wine is plush, reveals untold quantities of peaches and pears, and possesses a layered, fruit-filled finish. It is an outstanding Batard with fresh, powerful character. Anticipated maturity: 2003-2013 Importer: Vineyard Brands, Birmingham, AL; tel. (205) 980-8802
