Score 91/100 · Drink 2012-2027, Robert Parker, Jun 2012

The soft 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon Black Label exhibits an opaque purple color. It appears to be fully mature, but with its concentration and richness, it is capable of lasting another 10-15 years. Lots of cassis, incense, licorice, toasty oak and spring flower characteristics are abundantly displayed in this lovely, rich, pure, opulent wine. This enviable and venerable winery high on top Spring Mountain straddles the Napa and Sonoma county lines. These three sensational 2002s are all capable of lasting another 10-15+ years. Tel. Deep, smoky nose combines currant, graphite, tobacco and leather, plus greener notes of currant leaf and green olive. Quite backward and firmly structured, with flavors of currant, tobacco leaf, mineral, coffee and herbs. Finishes with a light dusting of tannins. The only one of these Pride 2002s that struck me as a bit green and dry in the sense of traditional Bordeaux. But this is also quite closed and minerally. I'd give it five or six years of additional cellaring.
