Score 90/100 · Drink 2006-2011, Robert Parker, Apr 2006

This sleeper of the vintage is a very good choice for everyday drinking Bordeaux that is already gorgeous to consume, and should age nicely for 5-6 years or longer. The brilliant Stephane Derenoncourt is the consultant at Les Grands Marechaux. The blend is approximately 85% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The brilliant 2003 (7,200 cases produced) is a full-bodied, surprisingly concentrated effort with superb richness, silky tannins, a voluptuous texture, and a decadently fruity, hedonistic style. Drink this crowd-pleaser over the next 4-5 years.

(80% merlot, planted on cold soil in the Premieres Cotes de Blaye; 14+% alcohol) Deep medium ruby. Black fruits and mint on the lively nose. Then sweet, lush and dense, with flavors of blackberry, cassis, black cherry and chocolate. In a distinctly New World style.
