Another mature Pomerol, the 2008 Château Nenin offers a forward, ready-to-go feel as well as medium body, integrated tannins, and good complexity in its truffle, cigar, dried herb, and sweet black fruit-driven bouquet. It’s a charmer to enjoy over the coming 7-8 years. The blend of the 2008 is 81% Merlot and 19% Cabernet Franc.

The 2008 Nénin has a rather pinched bouquet, earthy black fruit laced with soy and leather, more secondary aromas here than its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannin, masculine and reserved, missing fleshiness and density towards the rather monotone finish. This is disappointing in context of the vintage. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners’ 10-Year On tasting.

Tasted blind. Slightly dull blackish crimson. Dusty, medium intensity nose. Lacks fruit in the middle. Falls away. (JR)
