This was not an easy vintage in Pomerol. Although the 1996 Nenin exhibits lean, rustic tannin in the finish, it offers pleasant plum and chocolatey fruit, medium body, and clean wine making. Given the balance between fruit and tannin, I would recommend consuming it over the next 5-6 years.

Good medium red. Less ripe aromas of raw cherry, herbs, tar, mint and smoke. Firmly built but lean and a bit pinched; possesses modest sweetness and flesh. Rather dry on the finish. Nenin second wine in '97 already shows more flavor interest than this one.
