Tasting notes
Good full red. Superripe, expressive nose offers redcurrant, iron, leather and smoky oak. Fat and sweet; shows a confectionery quality without coming off as heavy or cooked. Finishes with wonderful breadth and utterly lush, sweet tannins.

Cuvee #1, from old vines on the Beaune side of the vineyard: Very good deep red-ruby color. Superripe, slightly reduced aromas of roasted plum and jammy redcurrant. Superrich and fat, with a flavor of coffee; just this side of heavy but not particularly hot despite the 14.8% alcohol. Finishes with huge but ripe tannins. Cuvee #2, from old vines on the Pommard side. Bright red-ruby. Aromas of roasted red fruits. Fat, sweet and dense, with a distinctly firm, classically Po mmard structure. Here the tannins give the wine more grip. Showing more oak today than the first sample.
Cask sample. Deep crimson. Slightly roasted flavours, then disconcertingly gassy. But there is some substance here. Dry finish, but just about enough cherry fruit. Some vegetal notes on the nose. Sweet, seductive, flattering start. Round. Pretty good. (JR)
