Bright medium red. Aromas of redcurrant, black cherry and leather. Supple and easygoing, with spicy, ripe berry flavors complicated by saline and leathery notes. Finishes with serious, dusty tannins.
An airy cool, pure and elegant red pinot fruit nose also reflects hints of spice and wet stone. The lacy medium-bodied flavors possess a strikingly refined mouth feel as the tannins here are also dense but quite fine. There is a lovely sense of balance to the harmonious and impeccably well-balanced finish. Blind this could easily pass for a fine Chambolle though the best examples of Les Petits Vougeots can often do that. Tasted: Jan 14, 2013. Drink: 2018+
