Score 96/100 · Drink 2000-2035, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, May 2023
Henri Jayer's 1980 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Brûlées continues to drink beautifully, offering up alluring aromas of raspberries, smoked tea, exotic spices and hints of loamy soil, followed by a medium to full-bodied, pure and precise palate with a sumptuous core of vibrant fruit framed by melted tannins. Jayer performed especially strongly in the 1980 vintage, and this wine is cruising along at a very lofty level.

About the producer

Henri Jayer
The wines of Henri Jayer (1922-2006) have mythical status in Burgundy. Coveted by many but tasted by just a precious few, they are some of the region’s rarest and most desirable – considered by some to be the pinnacle of what can be achieved with Pinot Noir.
