This is much more open than the Echezeaux. Broad. Crushed roses and subdued floral nose. Very open on the palate. Silky and crunchy fruit. This is a very good Clos Vougeot. Crunchy finish, with real depth in it.

Deepish crimson. A little raw with bruised-fruit notes. Pretty austere chewy tannins on the end. Bone dry and pretty uncompromising but certainly ambitious. Correct even if a little austere at the moment. (JR)
Good deep red. Sexy aromas of black cherry, licorice, coffee and sweet oak. Then juicy and youthfully tight on the palate, showing very good energy to the black cherry, menthol and herb flavors. Finishes with substantial firm, dusty tannins and excellent length. I'd give this two or three years in the cellar to unwind a bit. (Incidentally, my bottle of the Vosne-Romanee Aux Malconsorts was extremely reduced and funky, thick in texture but lacking nuance and delineation. I hope this bottle is not representative of the cuvee .)
