Tasting notes
Medium red. Fruit-driven aromas of black cherry, raspberry and smoke. Rich, layered and powerful, with very ripe flavors of black cherry, licorice and spices. Very sweet yet light on its feet, particularly compared to the young 2003. Finishes with substantial but well-distributed tannins.

An immensely concentrated, tightly wound wine, the 2002 Clos Vougeot appeared to be holding itself in reserve the day of my tasting. Thick, dense, and backward, its medium to full-bodied flavor profile exhibits viscous black fruit flavors. This well-endowed brooding offering is packed with ripe tannin and has a formidable structure that demands cellaring. Projected maturity: 2010-2019.
