Tasting notes
The 1999 is more precise than the 2000, as well as perfumed. It is an opaque purple-colored, full-bodied, dense effort revealing notes of black fruits, liquid minerals, and flowers. There are layers and layers of richness, tremendous opulence, and impressive purity as well as persistence. Drink it over the next 15 years. This is a knock-out wine! Importer: a Christopher Cannan Selection, various American importers including Michael Skurnik, Syosset, NY; tel. (516) 677-9300 and Diamond Wine Merchants, Oakland, CA; tel. (510) 567-9897

Medium ruby. Cassis, black raspberry, blackberry, violet, licorice and mint on the tight, cool nose, plus a soupçon of port. Superconcentrated but suave and tightly wrapped; today the cabernet component is apparent (there is also grenache and syrah). Creamy and sweet in the middle but not at all heavy or over the top. This has serious backbone. Really broadens out and lingers on the tactile finish. Hard to spit. )
