Score 18.5/20 · Drink 2001-2021, Jancis Robinson MW, Aug 2014

Medium golden hue. A really fresh fragrance does not solely rely on aromas of green fruit, but throws in an autumnal smell of forest mushrooms and wet stones for good and complex measure. On the palate the contribution of fruit is more or less limited to green peel and kernel notes, but the real deal comes from a fine nutty tang primarily reminiscent of almonds, a pronounced salty minerality and a fascinating earthy notion. The sound but not searing acidity is well buffered by a rich and almost oily texture. (MS)

Vibrant aromas of pineapple, quinine and candied ginger and citrus peel. Deep but youthfully tight, with a bracing sugar/acid balance giving the citrus and mineral flavors an almost austere quality. Inexpressive today and remarkably backward for 21-year-old dry riesling. I expect this to earn a higher score in the future.
