Score 90/100 · David Schildknecht, Wine Advocate, Dec 2007
From a single parcel, Dagueneau’s 2005 Blanc Fume de Pouilly Buisson Renard offers an impressive and distinctly pungent nose of gunflint, chalk dust, wood smoke and grapefruit zest atop its fruit fundament of cassis, lime, passion fruit and melon. With cassis and passion fruit dominating on the palate, tinged by salt, chalk, and resin, this impressively-dense wine is slightly stiff and wants for a bit of primary juiciness at this stage. Its long, smoky, chalky finish reinforces the impression of a firmly-concentrated Sauvignon worth returning to in a couple of years. Importer: Louis/Dressner Selections, New York, NY; tel.
