Tasting notes
The 2005 Château Fonbadet is solid, yet the wines today are far better. Offering a medium-bodied, nicely balanced profile as well as notes of ripe tobacco, graphite, and cedary herbs, it’s mature and drinking nicely.

The 2005 Fonbadet is a powerful, deep wine. Dark fruit, worn-in leather and heavy torrefaction flavors are signatures of a wine that is fully mature and that may have been pushed a bit too hard in the cellar. There is not much Pauillac character here. I would prefer to finish any remaining bottles sooner rather than later.
A fruit-driven cru bourgeois from Pauillac, the 2005 Fonbadet has a dark ruby/plum color, lots of spice, earth and blackcurrant fruit, and a medium-bodied, supple texture. Drink it over the next decade.
