Tasting notes
The 2010 Vosne-Romanée Les Chaumes is deep, powerful and sensual. It boasts fabulous depth and an understated personality that is immensely appealing. Today the Chaumes is cool and introspective, but it should blossom nicely with further time in bottle. At present it is quite reticent, even if its potential is striking.

Pretty marked tannins but there is energetic fruit here too. Sinewy. Very ambitious even if a bit short of succulence on the mid palate at the moment. (JR)
(vinified with about 15% whole clusters, this was the only 2010 made with some vendange entier ): Sexy aromas of raspberry, orange zest, wild herbs and exotic spices, plus a strong suggestion of stems. Dense, dry and reticent, with an intense spiciness to the ripe strawberry and menthol flavors. Quite tough and backward today, and not yet pliant.

Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025. Jean-Nicolas Meo was away on the day of my visit, so I tasted with assistant winemaker Peer Reiss. The harvest started on September 22 and took about ten days to complete. Overall, I am a big fan of the 2010s here. Although I did not get a chance to taste the 2009s from bottle, my notes suggest 2010 will turn out to be the more interesting vintage. The Meo-Camuzet negociant wines are reviewed separately.
