The 1982 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru was Christophe Roumier’s first vintage when he joined his father at the domaine. It has a rather monotone bouquet with touches of cranberry and loam, though the terroir does not really come through. The palate is redeemed by a sweet core of fruit. Maybe just a little chaptalized with a slight honeyed texture. This is holding up after 36 years but I feel that the winemaking practice speaks more than the terroir here in what was a difficult growing season. Tasted at the Roumier vertical in London.
