Palish yellow. Sexy aromas of dried pineapple and wet stone are very ripe but fresh. Thick and sweet, but with a sappy quality and firm underlying minerality to the flavors of pear, honey, clove and earth. A rather powerful, concentrated wine with persistent finishing flavors of apricot, honey and earth. Perhaps a bit heavy for this high-altitude wine, in the style of the vintage, but the wine's solid acidity keeps it fresh on the back. Mollard owns two hectares in Virondot, which he describes as "a commercial monopole," by which I assume he means that he's the only producer who sells a wine under this label.

Hints of cider and apples on the nose. Firm and rich with excellent freshness and concentration. Little dusty in the middle. Very different from the straight Chassagne-Montrachet. (JR)
Spicy aromas of orange, lime leaf and minerals. Juicy, cool and penetrating, with brisk but nicely integrated acids giving the focused lemon-lime and stone flavors a tensile strength. Rather powerful today, even a bit youthfully hard. But this finishes long and fine, and seems built for extended life in the bottle. My range may prove to be conservative.
