The top cuvée from this terrific estate located just south of Tournon, the 2006 Saint Joseph Le Paradis Saint Pierre comes from the oldest vines on the estate, planted all on a steep, granite slope, and was raised in mostly neutral oak. It’s just about fully mature and offers beautiful notes of olive tapenade, blackcurrants, smoked meats and spice. With a full-bodied, deep, beautifully concentrated style on the palate, as well as tons of character, it’s ideal for drinking over the coming 7-8 years.

A limited production cuvee, the 2006 St.-Joseph Le Paradis St.-Pierre is fashioned from the estate’s oldest vines (80 years), and sees about 5% new oak. It boasts a dense purple hue followed by a beautiful perfume of sweet red and black fruits, spring flowers, subtle tapenade, and licorice. As it sits in the glass, a peppery, floral component also appears. Enjoy it over the next 10-15 years. A Patrick Lesec Selection, agent for the US market: Chemin des Vins, Sherborn, MA; tel. Ruby-red. Explosively perfumed bouquet displays vibrant raspberry, kirsch and fresh violet, with deeper olive and licorice adding complexity. Vivacious red fruit flavors are braced by zesty minerality and gently firmed by silky tannins, finishing with a big pop of sweet blackberry. The vines here are reportedly over 80 years old, and this cuvee received only 5% new oak.
