Tasting notes
The 2012 Riesling Karthäuserhofberg 'Grosses Gewächs' displays a dense and fruit-intense bouquet with white peach aromas and some nutty flavors. Creamy textured, round and elegant on the palate, this is a pretty powerful and well structured Riesling with more phenols and stringency on the palate than the following vintages. This wine is pretty closed at the moment, needs aeration or more years on the cellar, but will probably never reach the purity, finesse and lightness of the the younger vintages.

Ripe green and stone fruit aromas are accompanied by a fresh leafy scent. Ample body and acidity find expression in a full and juicy flavour, in which melon and peach set the fruit highlights. Add a fresh and zippy finish and you have a Grosses Gewächs that is racy and real fun to drink already. (MS)
