Tasting notes
(Domaine Philippe Roty): Medium red. Black cherry, violet and a whiff of smoked meat on the nose. Supple, fat and creamy-sweet; quite round for this cuvee in the early going, and far more pliant than it appeared to be from barrel a year ago. Finishes with smooth, fine-grained tannins and good persistence. Will this shut down in bottle?

(Philippe Roty) Good deep red. Cool aromas of blueberry, cassis and crushed stone, with a whiff of iron; intensified by a high percentage of millerande grapes. Then peppery and penetrating in the mouth, and quite closed today, with a tannic edge that's almost bitter today. Philippe says this reminds him of a denser style of the 2002. Plenty of potential here but will need patience.
