Score 94/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Sep 2012

Very pale lemon-yellow color. Vibrant but quite closed on the nose, hinting at lemon, white flowers and cardamom. Chewy, saline and impressively concentrated, with superb energy and definition to the flavors of crystallized lemon peel, tangerine, white peach and dusty stone. Conveys a powerful impression of bound-up energy. The very long, perfumed aftertaste leaves the retronasal passage vibrating with lemon and white flowers. This should enjoy a graceful evolution in bottle.

Juicy, succulent yellow stone fruits, floral infused honey and chamomile wrap around the palate as the 2010 Puligny-Montrachet Les Referts captivates the senses with its generous, inviting personality. The Referts is another of the more overt wines in this lineup, in relative terms. Suave, silky and impeccable, the Referts impresses for its fabulous balance and crystalline purity. Hints of white peaches, flowers, slate and crushed rocks flow through to the finish, where the personality of the vintage is most vivid. This is yet another great showing from Ente.

Anticipated maturity: 2014+. (Not yet released) This is a stunning set of wines from Arnaud Ente. The 2010s stand out for their transparency, expressiveness and purity. Ente began bringing in his wines on September 15. Yields were down about 30% on average. Ente gave the 2010s 12 months in oak followed by 7-8 months in steel. The wines were all bottled in April 2012. There are a handful of more famous domaines in Meursault, but few that can equal the level of the stunning wines found at this small, family run estate that captures the essence of the Burgundian vigneron spirit. So racy and elegant! Tingling energy here – sappy and very different from Ente's Meursaults. Really racy. Wakes up the palate. This is lively enough to make a great aperitif, I could imagine. Almost like a Chablis Grand Cru in build.  (JR)
