Quite a lot of evolution on the nose. Very firm and fine with excellent structure and acidity. Like fermented lemon throat lozenges. Long. Good balance and structure. But it rather fell apart in the glass… (JR)

Tasted blind at Farr Vintners Kumeu/White Burgundy tasting. The 2007 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru les Referts from Jean-Philippe Fichet has a refined bouquet with light hazelnut and lychee scents infusing the dry, honeyed aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with a crisp, tensile entry, well-judged acidity and a gentle build to what feels like a fully mature finish that shows both a touch of oxidation and spiciness. This is at its peak now and should be consumed over the next two or three years.
Bright yellow. Hazelnut, smoky oak and enticing floral high notes on the nose. Very rich, chewy and sweet, with Meursault-like flavors of stone fruits and hazelnut. Already very sexy but there's plenty of energy here. Finishes broad and long.
Very full, ripe fruit under a veil of raciness. Lots of lovely ripe fruit with a really savoury hit on the finish. Excellently done. Great length. (JR)
