The 2006 Puligny-Montrachet Folatières from Leflaive was layered, rich and weighty, with tons of character, while Sauzet’s 2006 Puligny-Montrachet Referts showed more of a flinty, mineral-drivern personality. Both were beautiful.

(from 50-year-old vines) Subtle, musky aromas of peach, nut oil and fresh hazelnut. Fat, sweet and oily, with lovely ripe acidity framing the fresh peach flavor. With its very strong fruit, this is like biting into a perfectly ripe grape. Really stains the palate on the sweet, long finish. This cuvee got a bit of acidification, notes Boudot.
Very broad and winning – really rich but with a good undertow of acidity. A really explosive wine = not for classicists. (JR)
(still a bit of r.s. remaining) Truffley nose shows attractive limey lift and good complexity. Fat and round but on the heavy side, without the definition of the best of these 2006s. This still has a sugary quality today, but then there's a bit of residual sugar yet to be fermented. Boudot likes this style less in '06, "as deep soils never make great wines in years with rot. You need calcaire.
