An unusual blend of 50% Malbec, 30% Cabernet Franc, and 20% Merlot, the 2006 Cuvee Georges is lean, vegetal, and almost overwhelmingly earthy. Made from old vines, it represents this estate’s top cuvee, but it does not appear to be a success in 2006.

(a blend of 35% each malbec and cabernet franc and 30% merlot) Deep ruby. Sexy aromas of blackberry, minerals and licorice, with suggestions of pungent pomegranate and dried herbs. Primary but already nicely supple for the year, with spicy dark fruits promising greater complexity to come. Finishes with good tannic bite.
