Score 87-88/100 · David Schildknecht, Wine Advocate, Aug 2010

An approximation from barrel to the Merlin 2009 Moulin-a-Vent displays juicy black raspberry and cassis, with tamarind and toasted nut accents. There is an impressive sense of grip to the finish, with underlying hints of char and roasted game. This should make for a serious, if somewhat somber expression, of its appellation. Cask sample. Mineral scented. Polished. Rather Bordelais structure though! A little bit inky. (JR)
