Score 87-89/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Sep 2004

Aromas of spices, toasted grain and hazelnut. Dense on entry, then ripe and lively in the mouth, with enticing flavors of apple blossom and hazelnut. Very Meursault. Made from a wide range of vine ages, including plantings in 1990, 1982, 1970, 1961 and 1957. Finishes ripe and persistent.

A huge burst of spices greets the taster’s nose in the 2002 Meursault A La Barre. This satiny-textured, fat, lush wine is rich, crammed with spicy white fruits, and possesses an appealingly supple finish. Drink it over the next 3-4 years.
