Tasting notes
Rich, distinctive nose reminiscent of some decongestant! Some unusual oak note… Oak tannins rather than underripe grape tannins dominate here – not sure the fruit will ever completely triumph but there is no shortage of character here. (JR)

Berry, cola and subtle mahogany aromas follow through to a medium body, with slightly earthy, funky character, but I like the meat, berry and chocolate flavors on the aftertaste. A little disjointed at the moment. Needs bottle time. Best after 2012. 4,165 cases made. James Suckling, Wine Spectator 2009.
About the producer

Ch. Grand Pontet was purchased by Domaine Clarence Dillon wines (owners of Ch. Haut-Brion and Ch. la Mission Haut-Brion) in 2021. The last vintage was 2020, with the vineyards absorbed by Ch. Quintus, Clarence Dillon’s prestige Saint-Emilion estate from the 2021 vintage.
