Lightish crimson. Exotic, cigar-box nose with warm floral notes then more savoury and mocha on the palate. Complete, nicely savoury, but seems to lack energy and lift. (JH)

Quite perfumed, polished. Class act. Fresh, revitalising. (JR)
Purple. Intense nose with a whiff of St-Émilion extraction about it. Very fresh start – bodes well! – with supple texture all the way through. A lot of effort has gone into this wine. Drying finish. This wine is on a knife edge -giving it the benefit of the doubt it will mature into something pretty nice, though the tannins might just outlast the fruit. (JR)
While solidly made, muscular and masculine, the tannins are gritty, and the wine is somewhat edgy and aggressive.
About the producer
Situated at the highest point in the Médoc (at a huge 43 metres above sea-level), this estate is thought to be named after a spring on the site, from which Henry II supposedly drank (a “royal fountain”).
