Score 85/100 · Drink 2014-2017, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Jul 2016

The Bahans Haut-Brion 1988 has a dusty and light, antique bureau and blackcurrant pastille-scented bouquet that is a little frayed around the seams. The palate is tinctured by some brettanomyces and it feels a little staid towards the chewy finish. Not a displeasing Bahan by any means...but bottles should be consumed sooner rather than later. Tasted June 2014.

The 1988, a classic expression of Graves, offers up the tell-tale aromas of tobacco and black fruit. Medium-bodied, soft, and round, this seductive wine should drink well for 5-6 years. Wine Advocate.February, 1993
