Score 88-89/100 · Drink 1999-2006, Robert Parker, Jun 1999

Smoky minerals intertwined with spiced apples can be found in the 1997 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatieres’ aromatics. Its medium body is dense, oily-textured, thick, and packed with toasty pears, apples and gravel. It is a succulent wine, with excellent depth of fruit, and an outgoing personality. Anticipated maturity: now-2006. Importer: Wilson Daniels, St. Helena, CA; (707) 963-9661.

Deep, pure aromas of grilled nuts and honey, plus a leesy complexity. Distinctly richer than the Clavoillons, with lovely lemony acidity framing and extending the fruit. This has excellent intensity.
