Tasting notes
The 2009 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Evocelles is a wine of contrasts. Texturally it is quite suave and well-balanced, but the wild side of Gevrey lends an air of rusticity.

The 2009 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Evocelles is a wine of contrasts. Texturally it is quite suave and well-balanced, but the wild side of Gevrey lends an air of rusticity. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2017. Importer: Boisset Family Estates, St. Helena, CA; tel. (800) 878-1123
The 2009 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Evocelles is elegant, sleek and refined. It shows wonderful nuance and detail in its aromas and flavors, not to mention considerable class. The vines here are 45 years old. The percentage of whole clusters is 30% here and new oak was 40%.
Exotically sweet and perfumed with almost a hint of damp fur it’s so ripe! Then rather demanding dry tannins. A bit of an uncomfortable mixture at the moment. Drying finish. (JR)
