Tasting notes
(includes some declassified single-vineyard barrels; no new oak here): Good full red. Perfumed aromas of strawberry, raspberry, pomegranate and rose petal. Juicy, supple flavors of red berries and spices, with tangy acidity giving the middle palate a sappy quality. Finishes with spicy, floral perfume. An excellent value in California pinot.

The 2012 Pinot Noir drinks like an entry-level 1er Cru Burgundy from a top grower. Rich, racy and perfumed, the 2012 boasts gorgeous depth and richness. Sweet rose petals, red berries, mint and crushed rocks meld together in the glass, all supported by bright saline notes that underpin the finish. Rivers-Marie's Sonoma Coast Pinot is arguably the single finest value in California wine. If it isn't, I would like to know what is. The 2012 was made from a handful of sites and includes deselected barrels of Silver Eagle. This is a fabulous showing.
