Tasting notes
The 2005 Erdener Treppchen Riesling Kabinett displays pure and lovely tangerine, sage, and mint aromas. A subtly creamy and oily yet juicy palate suggests orange sherbet and horehound, its sweetness not as well checked as that of the other residually sweet Kabinetts here this year. The finish here, though, is immensely satisfying and long, unusually rich for a Kabinett, and is bound to appeal to those who prefer more obvious sweetness in this genre, but not quite so clear as the Kabinetts from the Lay or Sonnenuhr. Very rich and opulent on nose and 8.9 grams acidity. Still unresolved but should be really refreshing! (JR)
