Score 92/100 · Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Jun 2013

This bottle was my own contribution to the evening’s entertainment, purchased from the excellent Comptoir Vignobles shop in St. Emilion in tip-top condition. It has the deepest colour of three Sauternes ‘47s that were tasted alongside each other. The nose has a Barsac-like adhesive note with touches of chlorine infusing the rich tangy marmalade aromas. The palate is very well-balanced with that marmalade and honey note continuing. There is plenty of botrytis, although to be frank, there is not the verve of sophistication of the ’59 tasted just a few days earlier. The alcohol is not quite as controlled as the Climens ’47 on the finish, but it remains a tangy delight. Tasted April 2013.
