The 2003 Naçional Vintage Port is a vintage that I cannot recall having tasted since its release. It's an absolute gem. The bouquet explodes with a smorgasbord of aromas: sloes, fresh figs, Medjool dates and Xmas cake, all beautifully defined yet startlingly youthful. The palate has a ripe, almost candied entry, lightly spiced, intense and so elegant. The finish is very complex, particularly a second bottle opened by Christian Seely that was more pixelated than the first. Fabulous.

Exotic, with a flash of mint giving way quickly to vivid blueberry paste, açaí berry reduction and blackberry pâte de fruit notes that are still quite youthful in profile. Shows both silky and brambly elements, as well as muscle and finesse as this extends with salted licorice, dark chocolate, cinnamon and alder accents through the mineral-tinged finish, where the minty note returns as a seductive echo. Unique and gorgeous. Best from 2025 through 2050. 240 cases made, 20 cases imported.

This is a fantastic young port with a depth and richness. Dark berry with forest flower, bark and spice. Full-bodied yet compacted and beautiful. Rich finish. Just a baby. Real and typical. Better to leave this for four or five years still.
