Score 88/100 · Drink 2010-2015, David Schildknecht, Wine Advocate, Jun 2010

The Pousse d’Or 2007 Santenay Clos Tavennes smells of fresh ripe cherry, cedar, and black pepper; offers juicy, almost exuberant fruit mid-palate; and finishes with chalk, cherry pit, bitter herbs, black tea, and pepper generating lovely contrast and counterpoint to the wine’s sweet fruit. Enjoy this over the next 3-5 years. Patrick Landanger’s recent vintages seem to reflect increasing confidence (not to mention consistency), displaying a sense of restraint while combining richness and transparency to detail. Between the threat of rot and of roasting, he observes, the 2007s required more rigorous sorting than did the fruit from 2008, with a correspondingly lower crop, but Landanger and his crew did an outstanding job in the face of 2007 adversities as well as in 2008. Medium red. Slightly rustic aromas of plum, cherry, lavender and leather. Supple, sweet and on the soft side, but with just enough acidity and stony minerality to give lift and definition to the middle palate and juicy verve to the finish.

Good deep red. More mineral-driven aromas of black cherry and crushed stone. The black cherry and mineral flavors are supported by solid backbone. Finishes with very good energy and length.
