Good medium red. A trace of development at the rim. A bit of bottle stink quickly blew off to reveal wonderfully complex aromas of redcurrant, raspberry, truffle, smoke and leather, plus a hit of decadent caramel. Seductively silky, rich and full without being heavy; not quite as complex in the mouth as on the nose but this wine is still evolving. Flavors of red berries, underbrush and oak char are framed by harmonious integrated acidity. Shows the spherical shape of a grand cru and finishes with smooth, enveloping tannins and terrific length. A beautiful showing, and there's more to come.

As it usually is, this is much earthier and more obviously Nuits in character on the nose leading to sappy, dense, sweet and punchy flavors underpinned by excellent acidity and fine length. This offers really first class balance and lovely finishing complexity. Drink: 2010+

The ruby-colored 2002 Nuits-St.-Georges Clos des Forets St.-Georges boasts a spicy blackberry-scented nose. Revealing the most concentration, depth, and structure of Arlot’s wine’s in this vintage, it bastes the taster’s palate with creamy red cherries and blackberries. This silky-textured, medium-bodied effort has exceptionally well-ripened tannin discernable in its lengthy finish. Anticipated maturity: now-2012. Bright red-ruby. Pretty aromas of raspberry, Oriental spices, smoke and leather. Fatter, sweeter and creamier than the premier cru, with notes of spice, leather, earth and smoke. More texture and complexity here, but still could use a bit more verve and grip. Finishes with slightly dusty tannins and very good length.
