Tasting notes
Score 91/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2004

Full red. Enticingly sweet aromas of black raspberry, tobaccco, flowers, camphor and chocolatey oak. Supple, spicy and very lively, with sappy, concentrated flavors of red fruits and flowers, complemented but not dominated by oaky torrefaction notes of chocolate and coffee. Ultimately less thick than the Upper Terrace, but also more delicate and sophisticated, with sharper definition and more obvious backbone, and more successful integration of oak. This, too, offers impressive mid-palate energy for Oregon pinot noir, particularly one at this level of ripeness.
