Bright, deep ruby-red. Deep, spicy aromas of black cherry, bitter chocolate, espresso and leather. Dense and subtly sweet but with a firm spine of acidity giving shape to the flavors of crushed berries, stone, minerals and leather. There's a captivating wildness here that stops just short of rustic. Finishes with firm-edged tannins that avoid coming off as dry.

This is another astonishing effort from this small estate. The 2007 is one of the sexiest, most opulent yet powerfully concentrated wines of the vintage. There is not a hard edge to be found in this voluptuously textured, deep St.-Emilion. Abundant aromas and flavors of chocolate, charcoal, blackberries, and cassis offer a thrill a second. Enjoy this beauty over the next decade.
Another almost black wine. Real sweetness and life with a delicate floral aspect. Pure sweet pleasure – not for traditionalists – but this succeeds because it is not too dry on the finish. (JR)
