Score 90-92/100 · Drink 2003-2015, Robert Parker, Oct 2001

A powerful wine is the 1998 Barolo Bussia Vigna Rocche. Structured, tannic, broodingly backward, well-delineated, dense, full-bodied, and super-concentrated, this impressive effort reveals the 1998 vintage's tell-tale fragrance as well as the power and glycerin of 1997. Anticipated maturity: 2003-2015. A Marc de Grazia Selection, various American importers, including Michael Skurnik, Syosset, NY; tel. (516) 677-9300, Vin Divino, Chicago, IL; tel. Medium red. Lovely, tangy aromas of cherry, raspberry and smoky, spicy oak. Juicy and firm; less sweet than the Munie but with more obvious spine. A brooding, youthfully aggressive Barolo that finishes quite tannic and backward but with sneaky length.
