Score 86/100 · Drink 2019-2026, Neal Martin, Mar 2019

The 2009 Lamothe-Guignard feels a little monotone on the nose with overt mango and quince aromas but it lacks a little precision and personality. The palate is rounded on the entry, unctuous but rather cloying and lacking the acidity to back up the richness on the finish. Disappointing considering the vintage. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners’ 2009 Bordeaux tasting.

The medium gold colored 2009 Lamothe-Guignard sings of candied ginger, honey nut, apricot preserves and allspice with suggestions of orange blossom and gingerbread. Full-bodied, rich and bold in the mouth, the decadently fruited palate delivers tons of satin-textured layers and a very long, nut-laced finish.

Tasted blind. A bit too evolved and lacking acidity. Blah. (JR)
