Tasting notes
This extremely tannic, medium-bodied wine's proportion of fruit to tannin is out of balance. The color is a healthy dark ruby with a purple hue, but I cannot see the tannin sufficiently falling away to give this wine charm or appeal. Masochists may enjoy it more than I did.

Velvety, with a good amount of berry, cherry character and hints of herb. Tannins are slightly hard, finish is short. Better in 1999. 15,000 cases made. – Wine Spectator1997
