Tasting notes
Glass-staining ruby. An exotically perfumed bouquet shows intense dark fruit and floral qualities, with a spicy overtone. Round and deep in the mouth, offering an array of dark berry preserve and floral pastille flavors and a late note of allspice. Closes with impressive clarity and a lingering note of candied blackberry.

The star of this vintage is the more limited production 2009 Crozes-Hermitage Cuvee Speciale La Guiraude. Abundant aromas of black currants, cassis, licorice, cedar wood and roasted herbs emerge from this big, medium to full-bodied effort. It should drink well for 10-15 years. Opaque ruby. Pungent aromas of blackberry, fresh violet and rooty sassafras. Sappy and smooth on the palate, offering lush dark berry and bitter cherry flavors as well as notes of candied flowers and licorice. Finishes on a spicy note, with very good thrust and length.
