The 1987 Cheval Blanc is a successful wine - for the vintage. The spicy, herbaceous, sweet nose is followed by a precocious, round, fruity, light-bodied wine without much grip or structure. It does possess delicious, weedy, curranty fruit buttressed by gobs of sweet, smoky oak. It is a seductive wine for drinking now, but it will not keep. Last tasted, 6/93.
