1929 Cheval Blanc

This is the first time I have drunk the 1929 Cheval Blanc, and it ranks among the best I have tasted. This is a heavenly Saint-Émilion, exuding panache and class. It is extraordinarily and ineffably pure on the nose with Morello cherry, orange blossom and wild strawberry aromas. The 1929 is beautifully defined and focused, with hints of marmalade evolving with time in the glass. The palate is effervescent and ineffably pure with shimmering red fruit, a slightly viscous texture, hints of fig and Medjool dates and maraschino cherries on the finish that fans out with real style. This is stunning. Tasted at the Twenties Latour and Peers dinner at Epure in Hong Kong.
