Deep healthy crimson, with a pale rim. Firm nose, a little dry. Bitter cherries. Pretty dry on the finish – sort of dry wood kind of flavour. Not much flesh. Very drying tannins. Almost rasping. Some rawness at first, although sweet fruit with hints of chestnuts came out after a while, and then receded. This may be suffering 2004 taint. (JR)

Cask sample. Lots of CO2 on the nose of this sample. Lively fruit with some real terroir effect. Very racy and rich with some lift and density. (JR)
