Score 91-92/100 · Drink 2005-2012, Pierre Rovani, Aug 2001

Charlopin's 1999 Echezeaux from a parcel planted in 1925, was produced from low 25 hectoliter per hectare yields. It has a red fruit and oak spice-dominated nose. On the palate, it is filled with spices, violets, candied blackberries, and abundant cherries. It is tightly wound, tannic, (yet ripe), and immensely flavorful. Additionally, this wine possesses an exceptionally long and pure finish. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2012+. Importer: A Peter Vezan Selection, Paris fax #011-33-1-42-55-42-93.
